During a new interview with comedian Marc Maron on the WTF podcast, Bruce Springsteen questioned President-elect Donald Trumps basic competency three weeks before hes set to take the oath of office. Ive felt disgust before, but never the kind of fear that you feel now, Springsteen said. Its as simple as the fear of, is someone simply competent enough to do this particular job? Do they simply have the pure competence to be put in the position of such responsibility? The rocker, who campaigned for Hillary Clinton, went on to express his concerns that Trumps campaign unleashed bigotry, racism, intolerance that will be difficult to quell now that he will be in the White House. Whether its a rise in hate crimes, people feeling they have license to speak and behave in ways that previously were considered un-American and are un-American, Springsteen added. Thats what hes appealing to. My fears are that those things find a place in ordinary civil society.
He’s never been as afraid of a president as he is now.
I mean, Barry Goldwater was going to nuke us all and Reagan too! And that evil Nixon was a scary guy. And Bush I and II but now Trump... < /sarc >
He makes constipation grunts and some call it singing. He needs his face stomped.
Do you like Dolly Parton?
Bruce Springsteen is the same prescient celebrity who at Hillary’s losing preelection party with Beyonce, the Obamas and another faded rock star, bon Jovi, in Philadelphia said of Donald Trump, “he’s going down”. Yes, he’s going down to Washington, Mr. Celebrity.
Bruce’s secret is the extra-long concerts. Like a Deadhead Trip for people infatuated with New Jersey.
He “broke” in the 70s because of the King Biscuit Flower Hour concerts that ran for hours and hours. And then the bootleggers would offer LPs of those same long concerts. And through the repetition a star was born.
He was sold as “punk” once upon a time (and Tom Petty was sold as “new wave”). Then again, Tony Bennett was sold as “rock and roll” in the 1950s.
All these multi millionaires are so scared when they’ve isolated completely from any unpleasantness associated with we, the deplorable rabble. NOTHING will effect Springsteen regardless of who is president. The only thing he has to worry about is not being invited to the cool people parties Obama has been hosting for 8 years.
And here I wondered if I was the only one reminded of Constipation Blues anytime I hear Bruce get all emotional in a song.
Serious questions. After all, look who is currently in the WH and has no business being there based on competency.
This irrelevant old leftist isn’t even worth responding to.
An now he thinks he is a political analyst. NOT.
"Thunder Road" is great.
Pretty much everything else this guy has ever done makes me change the radio station.
Ever notice how the Left always calls Trump and his supporters racist, miscogynist etc. without any examples? It’s worked so well in the past against Quayle, Palin, Bush etc.they’re at it again.
Obama famously hosted Wednesday night concerts that aired on PBS while he was president. Not all of the performers were even libs.
Will PBS be continuing this series with the new president? Will performers be blacklisted if they go to the White House?
I heard he has a few boots buried in his ass.
This guy is so out of touch with regular people.
I’m a Pennsylvania native & can’t stand him! His version of Santa Claus is Coming To Town is one of the absolute worst Christmas recordings in history!
I find it hard to believe enough liberals buy these no talents’ CDs to make them as rich as they supposedly are.
Apparently Springsteen believes he should be the one who determine what’s legal to say and what’s anti American.
“No. Just shut up. Most overrated musician, ever.”
No kidding. My voice instructor uses him and Barbara Streisand as examples of over rated vocalists. And he’s a liberal!
For Cripes sake, will someone tell this idiot to just SHUT UP?
It’s not like a guy who sings (badly) is in a position to judge much of anything...
He bought a farm in nj. Very expensive. I heard a radio guy call him old mcSpringsteen.
