I argue that it is in the National interest as is the Military.

The maintenance of a military is explicitly authorized by the Constitution; a broad mandate to advance "the National interest" is not.

So because it's not in the Constitution, it something that is not in the National interest. "To boldly go where no man has gone before" Nothing more American than that. Make it So. I say. 😉
