I’m in your boat I have never heard of him, but I read after he died that he was a Homosexual and lived that life style and was very liberal minded. That lifestyle along with drugs tends to shorten ones time on this earth.

You know his music. If you were alive in the 80’s you couldn’t avoid it. Not my cup of tea, but he was prolific.
