Mission change
This will be portrayed in the media as a flip-flop, or as some sort of inherent contradiction. How can a man lead a department he once advocated eliminating entirely? But theres no contradiction at all. If you believe the federal government doesnt need to be dictating energy policy to the rest of the nation, but the Energy Department is still going to exist, why not have someone in charge of it who believes in the inherent limits of its usefulness, and runs it accordingly?
A long time ago, we lived in a small town that decided to have a “parks and recreation district.” The five members elected to lead the district became out of control and at some point ended up with $75K salaries each for managing one park and a big hike in property taxes! At this time, my property taxes were only $150 per year and the hike in taxes doubled my bill to $300 (I know, it was a long time ago).
At the next election cycle, three people decided to run against the incumbents with the promise that if they were elected, they would vote to dissolve the district and roll the property taxes back. Guess what—they won—and that’s exactly what they did!
Let’s pray that Rick Perry will have the wisdom to do the same!
I hope he runs the EPA through a wood chipper with rock salt and scatters the remains to the four winds.
Rick may not fit in.
I think Perry likes what power brings him more than the other picks.
Just my observation. Hope I am wrong.
The best way to dismantle the beast is from the inside.
I'm sure her comments about crony capitalism regarding the Carrier deal didn't do anything to polish her reputation with DJT.
Hmmmmm...Send him in to gut it from the inside to show that it’s useless with elimination to follow shortly thereafter?
Yep. Lead it to final, willful, and intentional dissolution.
It would be nice.
Yeah, lets’s support an unethical lying POS for SCOTUS.
Rick Perry, the last head of of Dept. Of Energy. He will be a great person to get rid of it.
He may lead it out the door.
Sounds like he’s perfect for the job.
