I saw it live....
Daniel needs to update his picture....
In real life he does not like the same as his picture...
It’s great he was on Tucker...
Terrific interview. As brilliant, insightful and erudite as he is in the written word format, DG is refreshingly uncanned and unpolished on television.
But he might try a necktie next time. Or a turtleneck sweater if it’s a tie problem. DG is a genius, truly, so I am not at all surprised by his little quirks. His mind roams at a level far above the realm of television prep.
So what are all the media consultants going to do if Trump doesn’t need them? I expect they will sell anti Trump ads and go on TV to bewail the country’s tilt to the alt right. I expect I’ll be turning off a lot more than NFL football and ESPN in the next year.
I love this guys mind, but good grief, a smile here and there and a smidgen of animation, just a tad, would be nice. LOL
Tucker is an animated guy and Greenfield is deadpan.
Greenfield looked like he was being waterboarded during the interview. =8-0>
He is brilliant. Not that he understands why Republicans lose (here at FR we mostly all get that), but because he is able to get traction with it to the point that he can get the message out.
I also credit small ‘L’ libertarian, Carlson for giving him the national exposure.
I read Greenfield pretty much every time he gets posted here. Always insightful. I expect the reason you don’t see or hear him much is his minor speech impediment. Not to be critical, as Tom Brokaw made a long standing career with one.
(Am I treading on a sore area?).
Better to face ones demons than mask them.
Perhaps a class or two in speaking/theatrical to work on presentation.
I read all of his articles too. I think he is more used to the print side of things rather than TV.
I had to chuckle because I was told to enjoy. I really did try to enjoy! I wish he did.
He must be a blast at parties. I’ve seen corpses with more of a sense of humor.
One of the smartest guys on the planet. I never miss his column.
Thanks for posting. I’d never seen a live interview with Mr. Greenfield, my favorite writer on the internet. I read his insightful commentary every morning with my morning tea.
His comments after the election were the best of the lot, IMO.
Guess it takes all kinds; it would be good if more had a good sense of humor. Life is so fun with it!!
I will try to post more Greenfield live talks. He is usually more animated than this piece with Tucker.
Greenfield has a very dry sense of humor and is extremely quick witted. Only a glimmer of that came through in this interview.
Look for more. BTW if anyone knows how to post vids I would appreciate the advice.
DG is a printed word genius, but it doesn’t come across as well on TV.
Maybe somebody could tie a tie for him, and show him how to leave it tied, so he can slip it on and tighten it.
Or just go with the standby clean black turtleneck.
I love the guy, he is so smart it’s frightening, but his public/TV persona needs a little coaching.
A little ? I felt bad for Tucker Carlson trying to prompt him and get him to loosen up and it just wasn’t happening. It was like Greenfield was anxious to get back to his vacation at Dachau.
His written sense of humor is beyond good. Some folks just cannot produce in a spoken forum, extemporaneously, what they can in a written draft.
