at this point Obama is being treated with kid gloves by Trump because he can actually do real damage to the country as he leaves office. also despite everything he does now have real experience with working with his cabinet in running the country and talking to him about his picks is wise because it does two things massage Obama’s ego and it might bring to Trumps attention an aspect of his cabinet pick he might not of seen.

I suspect there is some truth in that. At the very least it's a proven fact that we don't know what Trump is up to. He's proven that many times.
