Im hoping this is the ultimate point. Scott Adams has also intimated such a thing. These outrageous proposals are part of Trumps art of the deal. They get the other party thinking about generic issues.
Make an outrageous proposal first, then after the hide of the opponent has been sufficiently chapped, soften the proposal as a counteroffer to what they have to offer.
So far, the other side is not offering much of anything they are willing to give up. But they are over there being so angried up and outraged they are likely to concede and not even challenge a lot of other seemingly much less important items on the agenda, only to turn around and find themselves checkmated and painted into a corner.
The Donald plays the chess game in three dimensions, and they are still playing tiddlywinks. And missing the cup every time.
