Amid growing calls to drop out, Trump vows to ‘never withdraw’

Following the leaked audio recording of Donald Trump making lewd comments about women, several political figures both Republicans and Democrats have called for The Republican nominee to withdraw from the election. Trump responded to these calls on Saturday during an interview and stated he would never withdraw.

The Washington Post reported: “I’d never withdraw. I’ve never withdrawn in my life,” Trump told The Washington Post in a phone call from his home in Trump Tower in New York. “No, I’m not quitting this race. I have tremendous support.”

“People are calling and saying, ‘Don’t even think about doing anything else but running,” Trump said when asked about Republican defections. “You have to see what’s going on. The real story is that people have no idea the support. I don’t know how that’s going to boil down, but people have no idea the support.

“Running against her,” Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, makes keeping the party behind him easier, Trump added.

“It’s because she’s so bad. She’s so flawed as a candidate. Running against her, I can’t say it’d be the same if I ran against someone else, but running against her makes it a lot easier, that’s for sure,” he said.

It's time for Trump to call a press conference.

1. Start the conference with a variation on the statement he has already made: I've never pretended to be a perfect person. I've made mistakes and said things I shouldn't have said. I apologize for those that have been offended and I strive to do better.

2. However, if you choose to judge me by such an exacting standard, then there are a few things you should know about my opponent. I would like to introduce a few ladies:

   • Kathleen Willey
   
   Let each woman make a statement, in their own words, about how Hillary Clinton has treated them.

3. Trump can then close the press conference with a simple statement: I've said impolite things about women. But, these ladies are just a few of the many women that have actually been victims of sexual assault or harassment, and my opponent has been complicit in their victimization.

4. If you want to focus on character issues, then let's have a full and honest discussion about both myself and my opponent, rather than focusing on me. In comparison to my opponent, I think I am a better person -- whether we are discussing women's issues, tax issues, or the handling of our nation's most sensitive secrets.
