If Granholm is reincarnated she will probably make her home under a rock.

It’s NOT a loophole. It’s the most basic of all business taxation principles — carry forward your losses to apply against future profits.

That’s right I forgot about that. And he owns a good portion of wells Fargo and is losing money on it because of its latest fiasco, but refuses to comment.

Gov. Granholm, you might want to ask well-known Democratic support Warren Buffett on WHY he's hired the best tax specialists to keep his tax burden low

A better source might be Sen./Gov./CEO Jon Corzine, who prior to (arguably) cheating his stockholders & investors in MFGlobal, was such a 'financial luminary' that the Obama transition team consulted him on the 2008-9 financial crisis. Strange how he seems to have disappeared from the news, if he had been a Republican, the MSM would still be raking him up!

"I literally picked up the phone and called Jon Corzine and said Jon, what do you think we should do," Biden said. "The reason we called Jon is that we knew that he knew about the economy, about world markets, how we had to respond, unlike almost anyone we knew. It was because he had been in the pit -- because he had been in the furnace. And we trusted his judgment."

Nonsense. So what deductions is Ms. Granholm rejecting? ZERO.

If possible, she would have built an East German wall to force companies to stay IN Michigan rather than flee as they did during her reign of fecklessness and inanity as governor of Michigan ....

Not every American looks for every loophole under every rock," she said on MSNBC's 'MTP Daily' on Monday. (snip) "....He's not paying for that.

Actually he is paying for that - in hiring the best tax specialists in NYC, who's sole and entire purpose is to 'look for every loophole' and adhere to every tax law. But, dear Ms. Granholm, Trump must not have been too much in the hole if he turned around the next year and purchased 40 Wall Street aka Trump Tower.

And I doubt Trump would itemize jockey briefs like the Clintons did, or claim a $700K loss in 2015 like the Clintons did - I mean, who in their right mind takes a $700K loss to avoid taxes when they're running for office?

I was about to say the same thing. What kind of loophole is used underwear, hmmm?

I just got through with our personal return, and I looked for every dime allowable. Not doing so would mean more for the greedily wasteful government. Not all of us have a pay to play scheme operating through the state department.

Income tax is really slavery/theft of a significant fraction of your time here on Erf. The gibsmedats are not similarily harnessed for communal benefit of part of their time on Erf. NOT at all fair.

Tax laws are not written by members of the middle class. They are written by wealthy people who want to retain as much of their income as possible. Some of the many exemptions are put in there by politicians at the request of donors. Trump is very familiar with this system having paid prostitutes, excuse me, I mean politicians for their services. I really did not mean to offend any prostitutes out there.

I like a national sales tax.
It would be the only way to truly level the playing field.
I don't think it's possible anymore though.
The tax would have to be too high to cover the behemoth that has been created by socialism.

any tax accountant worth their salt, would take depreciation on a tax return. The law allowed this deduction and so it should be taken.

Yep, that is true. I routinely ignore ways to avoid paying taxes; it is so much fun to pay more taxes than what is due. Everybody does that. In fact, I bet there are plenty of people who send in more than they have to just to experience a thrill. It is so coarse and vulgar to actually follow tax laws for your own benefit.
