Cooler weather and the threat of rain didnt deter dozens of people from showing their support for Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump at a support rally in Saginaw Township Tuesday, Sep. 27.
Between 4:00-6:30 p.m. people held signs, listened to music and enjoyed brats and hot dogs in the festive atmosphere at the GOP headquarters at 3039 Bay Rd. People honked their horns as they passed by to encourage those gathered.
Trumps Saginaw County campaign director Debra Mantey says the event was to show people its possible to shift the state in Trumps favor.
This is just the second round to show Mr. Trump and especially the independents in our state that we can turn Michigan red for the first time since 1988, when Ronald Reagan ran.
Mantey says her office has been working for Trump since February and currently has more than 1,600 supporters within Saginaw County.
Coming on the heels of the Monday, Sep. 26 presidential debate between Trump and Hillary Clinton, emotions ran high among the attendees. Mantey says Trumps stances on the Second Amendment, trade and jobs are needed for the state.
We love our Second Amendment. We love being able to provide jobs , work for our families and Mr. Trumps been doing that all his life and he has a proven record of that.
Residents Richard and Joan Oberski watched Monday nights debate also. Richard feels Trumps policies will help the country, but was not impressed with Clinton.
Its what hes been saying all over. I mean hes got a policy, hes got some structure. But her? Whatd she have? Shes nothing but scripted. What, 300 days or something, she didnt even show up for everything. Shes scared of news. What does she got to tell you? Nothing, I mean nothing.
The Oberskis feel Trump will be able to bring jobs to the country, enabling the jobless to be taken off government assistance.
So this was a lively rally for Trump, and he didn’t even have to be there! That’s when you know people love you and what you represent.
I was reading somewhere that there were about 39 of them across the state.
I want a clean sweep of Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. I want all 50, but for now I’ll focus on this region.
This was our second sign wave/rally. Good times for all. If you are in Michigan and want to participate please PM me an e mail address and I will make sure you are informed. I am co chair of Ottawa County Trump Campaign.
