I was a police officer for 36 years. Prior to being a police officer I served six years in the U.S. Air Force, four on active duty and two in the reserves. Before that, my fondest memories, while growing up, are of going to the VFW with my dad on Friday night for their fish fry or clam bake. When I was in high school I played on that VFW Post’s Drum & Bugle Corps. My Dad served in the Merchant Marine during WW II, and recounted having been torpedoed once while on a North Atlantic convoy. All of my uncles served in the Army or Navy during WWII and some of my older cousins in Korea. My brother was a Marine who was stationed in Cuba during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and I went to Vietnam.
Neither my brother nor I were wounded while in the service, but some of our uncles were not so lucky, and our father had to tread water in the cold North Atlantic before being picked up by a Coast Guard cutter. Our family willingly sacrificed for this nation, as did millions of others. When people say freedom isn’t free, we know, first hand, what that means.
My grandfather was a Carabinieri (Italian Federal Police Officer) in Sicily before he immigrated to America, and beyond my 36 year police career, two first cousins were policemen, two were married to policemen, one second cousin is currently a police officer, and so is my oldest grandson.
Standing up for American values is who we are, and we are not ashamed to defend them. Of course, most of you reading this article feel exactly the same. Law enforcement is a vital aspect of maintaining those values, as well as remaining a free and prosperous nation. Without it we are no different than those lawless nations in Africa who slaughter millions of their countrymen for whatever reason they wish. The post-Civil War Old West could not prosper until law enforcement firmly established itself, and those intercity ghettos of today will never prosper until law and order prevails. We will continue having body counts in Chicago’s neighborhoods that surpass any in Iraq or Syria, until the law is enforced.
Our flag means a great deal to me. When I hear the National Anthem played it sends shivers up my spine. I am not ashamed to admit that I am a patriot, which brings me to the point. When I see the flag desecrated or witness someone dishonoring this country, I get very upset. But to watch an overpaid, spoiled athlete dishonor this country, goes beyond the limit of my tolerance. These athletes use the freedoms, that other’s earned for them, to be disrespectful to the very people who pay for those franchises to exist.
The NFL has been under attack by the radical left for several years now. It is no accident that so many media stories, from print, television and the movies, have attacked the NFL with stories about concussions and the effect on players; from high school through the pros, and the cover-up by the NFL to hide the facts.
Football is a violent sport, that pits men against each other, acting in a manly way, while forsaking feminism; and as such the left doesn’t like it. The left is trying to do away with football at all levels. That means the people who watch and support football, are the rest of us; you know, Hillary’s deplorables. We are your everyday working guy and gal; Joe six-pack, guys and gals who like to go to the games and tail-gate, make a day of the sport and have their friends over for a bar-b-cue. Just everyday working people, the heartbeat of America; that’s why the left doesn’t like football; they are too elite for the sport. So in typical leftist fascist fashion, they are trying to do away with it.
In response, the NFL is trying to pander to them. They think that they can win over the feminist Nazis and leftist fascists. Of course, it won’t work. Just as it didn’t work for the tobacco industry, the NFL is on the way out; because there is no compromising with the radical left. The NFL; however, has no qualms about insulting the rest of us. They figure that we will support them no matter how much they mistreat us. Well, I for one will no longer accept being insulted by them. I am not accepting those athletes spitting in my face by being disrespectful to everything that I believe in. I will no longer accept their superiors not putting an end to their tantrums, or the NFL itself allowing this type of disrespectful behavior to continue. That is why I have boycotted the NFL.
It all began in the NFL preseason, when Colin Kaepernik, a third string quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, during a pre-season game, refused to stand for the National Anthem. When questioned by reporters, he stated that he could not honor a nation whose police kill black men. Of course he was referring to BLM lies. He went a step farther the next game, when he wore socks with police officers depicted as pigs. Since his first disrespectful act, several other jerks, on different NFL teams, have joined him.
The NFL remained silent, but others stated he was within his rights. This is the same NFL that barred the Dallas Cowboys from placing a sticker on their helmets to honor the five Dallas police officers who were gunned down by a BLM racist. The hypocrisy doesn’t end there, though. This is the very same NFL that applauded Beyoncé strutting onstage in her racist Black Panther themed outfit, at this year’s Super Bowl. The liberal press, and the NFL, gushed at her paying homage to the Black Panthers; you know that racist black group that wants to kill white people and especially the police. Apparently the NFL has no problem with anti-white and anti-police bigotry.
So this writer has chosen to boycott the NFL, and I would urge everyone reading this article to do the same. The NFL is a capitalist business. It exists solely to earn profits. I will not spend one dime on an organization that opposes everything that I believe in and that insults me, nor will I watch those televised games, because they earn profits by how many do watch. If you, too, are a patriot, please join me in boycotting the NFL.
I ain’t watching to find out who they are.... :-)

My goal is to not watch a down this year (or at least so long as this nonsense continues). So far so good.
Sports radio in Philly yesterday brought up that the TV ratings were down close to 10% and then spent hours whistling past the graveyard by denying that Crappergoof and his turd imitators had anything to do with it. A high percentage of NFL fans would watch football if they played the Communist Internationale before the game. They forget that there is an audience at the margins.

Switch to Ice Hockey. Now there is excitement!
I’ve heard that it’s amazing to watch in-person. Difficult sport to get into via television, although the Olympic final where Canada edged out the U.S. in overtime was one of the most exciting athletic events I’ve watched in the past decade.
When I was at Domino's, it amazed me how many houses I delivered to that had a shrine to John Elway and the Broncos in the front room of the house.
On Sunday, without listening to the game, I could tell if the Broncos won or lost. If they won, we'd be busier than hell. If they lost, we'd be totally dead.
A few weeks ago I said to a friend, there are few things I can think of that I give less of a crap about than the Broncos. Then the Olympics came on...
I find hockey so much more interesting to watch than football there isn’t any comparison. Have loved ice hockey since my college days, over 50 years ago. Used to love football too, but the game has been ruined!
I guess another factor is that I never actually played hockey myself, unlike football and basketball, so I have less of a personal connection to the sport.
I am finished with the NFL until they fire these stupud haters.
I blame the NFL even more than these stupid peanut brains and haters. When I am on the job, I represent my company, and if I go off subject to express some controversial or hateful message “on the company time” I would be fired because I am reprepresenting the company - it is not about me - and the implication is that what I say is what my company believes in.
Since the NFL is allowing this hateful and totally off subject message on the field and on the NFL’s time, then my conclusion is this ignorant and hateful message is the message of the NFL itself, that the NFL not only agrees but is canvasing this bull shit.
So to hell with the NFL, the goons could have said whatever on their own time not the NFL’s time, so if the NFL allows this on their time THEN THEY OWN IT, THEY OWN THIS HATE.
The NFL uses the colors of our flag in their logo. Take it off, use the flag of ISIS instead but get out of my life as I have fired these numbskulls from my life. They can go to hell, I will follow car racing instead.
I am happy to report another convert in my family! I have not watched a game this entire season but my husband is a die-hard Redskins fan but declared that he has watched his last game today! 4 players today did the black power salute and not long after the game started, he came down the stairs and declared he was going out to cut the grass!! Up until this point, he had given “his team” a pass as none of the players seemed to have gotten involved in the latest nonsense. I, on the other hand, blame the entire NFL and want no part of it no matter if my team is playing or not. But, today was it for the hubbers! The NFL is now officially done in our house!!

Open letter to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell
RE: 55-year NFL fan takes a knee in disgust.
Dear Commissioner:
I was just 8 years old when the Minnesota Vikings played their first game in 1961. I fast became a pro-football addict. Bud Grant, Fran Tarkenton, Chuck Foreman, and the Purple People Eaters became my steadfast heroes. They were more than instrumental in my upbringing.
The Vikes lost 4 super bowls, but it didn’t matter to this young, impressionable teenager. What mattered is the team stuck together, through thick and thin. They played their hearts out. Set the bar high, both on and off the field. And fostered the notion in this young man’s head that honor and integrity were pillars on which to build.
The military brought me to California in ’73. And a new set of heroes in the form of Bill Walsh, Joe Montana, Jerry Rice, and Ronnie Lott impressed with their exemplary conduct on and off the field. Sure, they won super bowls. But their enduring legacy extends beyond rings and Lombardi trophies, an arrow shot straight into the hearts and minds of their fans, who witnessed players sacrificing individuality and personal gain for the greater good.
Today? Look for new heroes? How dare NFL fans chance it, when we’re continually betrayed by our chosen heroes, who succumb to child and animal abuse, domestic violence, assault and battery, drugs, disrespect, greed, narcissism and a host of other unsavory acts.
And what does an NFL fan get in return after purchasing overpriced NFL merchandise, $12 beers, and spending $40 for a parking spot and a week’s wages for a nosebleed, cramped seat in a billion-dollar stadium? On-field narcissistic behavior exhibited by players who make rudimentary plays such as a TD or sacking the QB; Sherman-like in-your-face diatribes, unsportsmanlike conduct; unprofessional attire and attitudes exhibited at press conferences, fan indifference, cheating scandals, record breaking contracts, and, now? Personal politics injected into the fan’s entertainment venue.
So what is the NFL teaching that 8-year-old boy/girl today? Commit a felony? That’s okay. Serve your time and we’ll grant you a million-dollar contract on your return. Cheat? Not a problem. We’ll discipline you, but you can wash, rinse, and repeat. Exhibit narcissism on the playing field? That’s okay. We promote me over we. Demonstrate while in uniform and on the clock? No worries. Do your thing.
What other employer would tolerate this behavior? Will Budweiser look the other way when its employees – dressed in Bud uniforms and still on the clock – take time out to protest whatever ails them? Will Ford, Time Magazine, or any other NFL advertiser follow suit? Doubtful. More likely the employees will be warned, then disciplined, then fired, simply because the employer has the right to do that in order to prevent a hostile work place if nothing else.
After 55 years of being a diehard NFL fan, I’m taking a knee in disgust. I’ve cancelled my NFL Sunday Ticket, signed a petition to boycott all NFL games, and agreed – to the best of my ability - to boycott all NFL advertisers.
I’m sure the NFL will not miss this lone wolf howling in the dark. But I’m also certain, should the NFL not “clean up the sport,” they will – as some have predicted – cease to exist.
A PREDICTION ON THE FUTURE OF COLIN KAEPERNICK AND THE NFL
The day Colin Kaepernick covertly chose to sit during the singing of the Star Spangled Banner, he penned the expiry warrant for the NFL. Commissioner Roger Goodell, by sanctioning this act, validated the warrant.
CP will forever be known as the man who wrecked the NFL. He will seek bankruptcy due to the numerous suits and countersuits being filed for creating a hostile work environment and the loss of prospective earnings by his coworkers, to name just a few.
RG will be fired. Someone will replace him, but whoever it is s/he won’t be able to contain the monster before it devours the NFL.
Together, CP and RG opened the gates and allowed the street fight to spill into the stadium. And like every other conflict that isn’t quashed at its onset, this one sprouted legs. Growing, it will devour its host until there is nothing left of the NFL but a shell of its former self.
The NFL will have no allies. Faced with countless suits for sanctioning a hostile work place, loss of future earnings, broken contracts, lost advertiser dollars, and a host of other legalities, the pillars will either crumble under the onslaught or be removed for safekeeping. Those who stood at the NFL’s side will back away in an effort to save themselves, thus escalating the demise of the sports franchise.
Already, disparate groups are planning to protest at the colosseum gates. CP has shown them the way to the heart of the media. Media cameras will sway from the game to the battles raging at the gates and within the walls of the coliseums. Multitudes will rush the walls, if for nothing else, to be front and center on Time Magazine’s cover. More articles will be written about the battle and the fall of a sport’s empire, than the game itself.
There is no greater wrath than a woman scorned, and the NFL (and other sport franchises) have, for decades, disparaged the girlfriends and wives of hundreds of thousands of sports fans (mostly males). The female sect will use this opportunity to wrench back their boyfriends and husbands. And they won’t stop there. Using the power of social media, they will seek revenge on advertisers such as Budweiser, who turned their husbands into bleating sheep with their blah-blah commercial and they will, with fervor, wreak havoc on any advertiser who dares defy them. Don’t think so? Just ask Target how they fared against this overwhelming taskforce.
A recent poll predicts 44% will boycott the NFL if the monster isn’t contained. It won’t be. There is no doubt this number will exponentially grow and fester into other sport arenas. Basketball, baseball, soccer, tennis, hockey, etcetera, are all at risk.
Good will come of the purge. Those who return to actively participating in sports will do so, not for the money, the fame, or for their egotistical self, but for the love of the game and what it can teach us and future generations about integrity, teamwork, and unity.
Maybe our children and grandchildren will get to ‘play ball’ after all.

Paying more for cars, beer and pizza and losing hours a week for the ‘priviledge’ of watching other men getting dirty rich for playing with balls, and other men getting dirty rich for talking about the men playing with balls...
Umm... nah... not any more.
Guess I’m out of a major social strata by doing so. But then, I don’t watch reality tv, The Bachelor, etc. either. Politics (my wallet) and FR is another story ;)
