They were stupid, but what is interesting is I am seeing this story everywhere and people acting all outraged yet I don’t see the same outrage over the story today that Obama gave $33 billion to Iran.

Difference of scale. The mattress ad is human scale, and is getting a human response. The betrayal by Obama is so gigantic it's dumbfounding, and no one knows how to respond to it.
