I own just about everything L’Amour wrote. I’ve actually learned a lot from his books. And that match burning was not the only trick. There is the ol’ inching toward where you cast a shadow on the perp so the sun blinds him. Not that I’d get a chance to use either of those.

But I get the strong impression that she dropped the drink as a diversion. Pretty impressive. And I can’t get Holly Hunter in Raising Arizona out of my head now.

Ok...now you've done it.

How about Holly Hunter in "Always"?

Do you know which book this is in regarding the match?

I wish I owned his books. I’ve been reading them since I was in grade 5. He led to my love of westerns heh.

This story is great and a picture of how being situationally aware and keeping a cool head can save you.

Louis L’Amour may have saved my life on night.

I thought about something he wrote, and changed my actions.

I was later told I came very close to being shot.

"I own just about everything L’Amour wrote."

I do own everything he ever wrote....collected hardcover works with leather bindings and acid-free paper. Not long after he died, this collection was offered as a subscription item. It includes most, if not all, of his short stories, as well as full books, with commentary by his son. I have re-read them many times.

I wish he had lived long enough to finish "The Walking Drum".
