If your doctor brings up firearms, lie. He or she isn’t trying to help you, and no good can come out of any declarations against interest that you might make. Best case, potentially harmful information will end up in a computer database. Worst case, they’ll try to take your guns.

“If your doctor brings up firearms, lie.”

EXACTLY. How is he gonna know?

‘Well, sir, you could be lying. I know you are in deep pain due to cancer but we should go to your house to check on your firearms regardless.” People are making a big fuss about it.

Ive got a better alternative to lying - If he has the audacity to ask - remind him/her that counseling about gun safety is best done by certified trainers and that unless he/she is one, he/she is opening themselves up to legal ramifications....and their insurance damned well better have a rider for such on their policy

ask to see the certification and insurance rider....there are several forms on the Net to this effect - they are easily found
