Donald Trump likes to tout his tremendous support among union members. Workers love me, he says.
Union leaders are clearly worried. They have been out in force at the Democratic National Convention, rallying around Hillary Clinton. On Monday, AFL-CIO head Richard Trumka declared Clinton is a champion of working people and cast Trump as a rich guy who outsourced Americas jobs to line his own pockets.
Most of the large unions AFL-CIO, AFSCME, SEIU, UAW and teachers groups are supporting Clinton and donating big to her campaign. Unions are among her top donors, according to OpenSecrets.org. In contrast, Trump has only been endorsed by two small unions: the National Border Patrol Council and the New England Police Benevolent Association.
But Jeff Hester of Tennessee thinks union bosses are going to be shocked on election day. He sees a big disconnect between what union leaders are saying and how rank-and-file members feel....

This is going to be the year that people say one thing in their social circle and do another one in the voting booth. I just know it in my guy that union guys, law enforcement, all of it is going to go overwhelmingly to Trump.
Fear. . of losing jobs, of losing “positions” in their
communities, of having to possibly move a long way from
“home” to find jobs, fear of not having money for the
necessities of life.
My father voted as he wished and did not like pressure to
“vote the party line”. He worked at the Milan Arsenal,
and when the Saturn V project started up in Huntsville,
AL; his supervisor brought his whole crew with him to
work down there. He was a carpenter and worked hard all
his life, a WWII combat veteran; lost his hearing in the
war and that had him under a very definite handicap from
then on. Shell shocked all to blazes.
The “rational thinking” had nothing to do with the unions involved. It was forced onto them. They fought it tooth and nail all the way to the finish. Lied through their teeth, went straight-up thug on supporters of the reform and routinely used threats of violence to attempt to quell support for the reforms.
“For example, some people have to belong to the union in order to get a job, whether they really like it or not.”
That right there is reason enough to end unionism completely.
I work at a union shop in philly. I haven’t met a Clinton supporter yet.
I hope Trump addresses the Polish worker thing. This is what I hear about from dems and there are also independents who have been inundated with the story of how DT brought in Polish workers and paid them 5$ an hour or even nothing. One version says that he didn’t pay them at all, but viciously had them deported without pay as soon as the work was done. Please Mr. Trump spend time addressing this in a meaningful, understandable way. Say it over and over for a while because this is where the dems have many people in there choke hold.
