The union vote: Trump wants to make it Republican

Donald Trump likes to tout his “tremendous support” among union members. “Workers love me,” he says.

Union leaders are clearly worried. They have been out in force at the Democratic National Convention, rallying around Hillary Clinton. On Monday, AFL-CIO head Richard Trumka declared Clinton is a “champion of working people” and cast Trump as a rich guy who “outsourced America’s jobs to line his own pockets.”

Most of the large unions — AFL-CIO, AFSCME, SEIU, UAW and teachers groups — are supporting Clinton and donating big to her campaign. Unions are among her top donors, according to OpenSecrets.org. In contrast, Trump has only been endorsed by two small unions: the National Border Patrol Council and the New England Police Benevolent Association.

But Jeff Hester of Tennessee thinks union bosses are going to be shocked on election day. He sees a big disconnect between what union leaders are saying and how rank-and-file members feel....

Back in 2000, I had a neighbor who told me she was voting for Gore because her husband’s company told the employees to vote for Gore. I told her that I thought that was illegal. She demurred, but we were never again good friends after that.

It sems to me that he really only needs a percentage of the union vote and he only needs that percentage to come from a few urban areas in a few battleground states. The same for African Americans and Hispanics.

there are MILLIONS of union members who will vote for Mr. Trump

especially since they can see what the D policies have done to their jobs

also, remember the millions more union members who are now UNEMPLOYED due to Obama/Hillary/Kerry/D party constant attacks on employment and jobs in America

Trumka is the worst labor leader in American history.

This guy is for amnesty?

American immigration laws were WRITTEN by Gompers and his union.

Can you imagine a union leader in favor of illegals, H1Bs, and mass immigration in general?

Previous generations would have literally buried this rat long ago. He’s on a mad jihad to deprive Americans of their jobs.

Bret Bair said this afternoon on Fox that he had been talking to some of the union people who helped set up and maintain the convention hall for the DNC in Philly, and about seventy-five to eighty percent of them confessed they were voting for Trump - they didn’t want to be quoted because their union was endorsing the ‘rats and they were afraid of retribution (like maybe jobs drying up for them) - welcome to Democrats’ Amerika.....

Union members are welfare beggars by nature: they rely on the force of government to tell private property owners how they will employ their own private property. The are socialistic/communistic/liberal/democrat to their very core. The very existence of a union is anti-American and pro-communist in every conceivable fashion.

I would not doubt it. One of the biggest Trump supporters I know is a union local president and he makes no bones about it. Of course, he’s probably the only conservative local president in the state. Anyone with any intelligence can see what illegal immigration is doing to the job market in an already depressed economy while at the same time their regional and national officers work against the locals best interests.

I’ve never been a union member but I’ve worked and lived around them.

Imo, labor unions, by design, are incapable of thinking beyond the bottom of their own bellies. Labor unions price themselves out of the market on a regular basis and can’t figure out why they’re decaying in membership.

Don’t ever expect rational reasoning from a labor union’s leadership or rank and file.

It’s not “the union vote”, it’s the “blue collar private sector vote”.

Increasing numbers of working class people are figuring out that unions are irrelevant, if the jobs all go overseas.

I hope you are correct, but it does not change the nature of unions or their members.

I worked around union bosses and thugs several years ago;
and those were among the most vulgar-mouthed, mean and
rude people I’ve ever met in my life. $$$$$$$$$ - The
Almighty Dollar IS the root of all evil, and they are not
about to release their dues-payers easily.

A long, long time ago, working conditions were horrible and
required organizing and going on strike. - That day has come
and gone; and now, the Unions are in league with the
Democrat Party and blood and corruption are what they feed
on in order to enslave people.

You might want to narrow your brush a bit, as in fact there is a spectrum of union members just as everything else. For example, some people have to belong to the union in order to get a job, whether they really like it or not. Wisconsin teachers were in that situation until Gov. Walker’s reforms were finally allowed to go into effect which ended the practice of closed shops in the teachers union. Once they were given a choice about whether to pay union dues or not, over half of WI teachers quit the union. That’s pretty rational thinking in my book.

I’m not making this up:

#15 ~ Democratic bastions (either in the local PTA, hamlets, towns, villages, boroughs, cities, States - and especially on the FEDERAL LEVEL) have for many years been historically and intrinsically corrupt. That, of course will never change.

Why do you think that is so?

A rhetorical question, (I am confident I know the answer) but I’d like to hear different opinions - some FR input. FRinput?

Unions will mostly give to rats. But I think most rank and file members are voting Trump. From all the hands I have spoken with and know, that’s what’s going down.
