Even if the accusation was slanderous, you’d be foolish not to take the threat seriously. Those who have been slandered know how difficult it can be to refute the charges even if totally groundless. As the old saying goes: “A lie can travel halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to put its shoes on.”
Maybe. But how is it an ‘insult’? An ‘insult’ enough that Cruz said today that that was why he didn’t endorse Trump.
Perhaps, Cruz considers the entire situation from the posting of an unflattering picture of his wife to the threat of exposure of something as insulting.
However, that wasn't my point. It cannot be inferred from someone's concern about being threatened with exposure that he or she has something to hide. No one would want to see their name dragged through the mud with slander, even if the slanderous statements can be proven to be slander. Such concern is a perfectly rational response from even someone who has nothing to hide.
