On one of the drilling rigs in Africa we had a black driller, good guy. When he saw the hell hole we were working in, he said, “thank god for slavery.” He as I knew slavery was an abomination on man. He also knew if not for slavery he would be living in that hell hole. His ancestors paid an evil price for slavery. As a black man in the United States of American he has benefited from the evil institution of slavery and sacrifice of his his ancestors. They paid the price of his now good life.
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.
