This probably explains the proliferation of video games which are set in a very dystopian war zone, and combat seems to be the only enterprise anybody actually engages in. The somewhat cartoonish avatars (which may or may not be representative of another real person participating in the game, or just a place-holder to make the game “interesting”) get knocked flat as a cookie, but with the reset button, come right back to life.

Now that we need you, Morpheus, where are you?

Or maybe this is just The Matrix, choosing our reality, by taking either the Red pill, or the Blue pill. Take the Blue pill, the story ends, you wake up in a much more prosaic “reality”. Take the Red pill, and you can stay in Wonderland.

But you may only make the choice once, and you must stay in that version of “reality”.
