Not disbarred probably, but in my opinion he should not be any kind of judge.
Actually, depending on the state bar association and how they might be forced to handle this...the guy could be looking at a temporary suspension at the least. His ethics and behavior would indicate that he can’t excuse himself from a direct impact case, and therefore....can’t practice legit law.
I actually think that each state bar association ought to send out a formal letter each year and warn their members of the consequences of ‘stupidity’.
I had some relative that had to take on the chief prosecutor of a southern county over a property issue (they were neighbors). She tried to handle this quietly....then tried to have it done via legal means. Finally, she found some newly graduated law school kid, and she just said to take it to the bar association. Three months later, they call up the prosecutor and yank his license to practice law. It basically destroyed this guy’s entire capability to make a living.
