It isn’t hard to make your own. I start with tomato paste. Add vinegar, spices, honey to taste.

OMG! 4 grams of sugar! On a burger! Not FOUR GRAMS of powdery evil! And a bun adds 3 grams more! AAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Your first sin was putting ketchup on a burger, must be a yankee.
Only kind of ketchup I would ever use on a burger or a hot dog.

Anything that’s “Heinz”
That sounds pretty good. Do you have a recipe?

I’ll ketchup with you later
I will relish that
Or make your own, like they did in the “old days”.

A 15-gram serving of ketchup has 3 g of added sugar, and 2 g of sugar from the tomatoes themselves.
I now make my own. So much better:
BALSAMIC KETCHUP
28 oz. canned tomatoes, peeled and seeded
1/8 cup tomato paste
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 medium onion, finely diced
2 cloves garlic, finely diced
5 tablespoons Balsamic vinegar
5 tablespoons brown sugar
½ teaspoon ground ginger
½ teaspoon mustard powder
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
¼ teaspoon allspice
Pinch ground cloves
3 tablespoons honey
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
Put the tomatoes to a food processor and process until smooth. Strain, pressing against the solids with a wooden spoon to extract as much pulp and juice as possible.
Heat the remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat until almost smoking, and saute the onion and garlic until translucent. Add the tomato puree, balsamic vinegar, brown sugar, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, and honey, and season with salt and pepper. Continue cooking, uncovered, stirring occasionally, until thick, about 20 minutes. May be refrigerated, covered, up to 2 days.
Suggestion:
Take ground beef, break up and cook in pan.
Mix in a quantity of your favorite chunky (and spicy) salsa.
Cook off the excess liquid.
Place on a bun with a slice of sharp cheddar, with some Fritos on the side.
Enjoy your ‘sloppy Tex’...
Yes. HE looks like eats puts ketchup on his hotdogs.
Ketchup on a cheeseburger? Good lord, man, that’s what fries are for. Get thee to the mustard aisle.
Fifteen gram serving
Three grams of added sugar,
two from tomatoes
When I lived in Canada, I picked up the taste for putting malt vinegar on my fries instead of ketchup. Still prefer it that way.
If you want to avoid a nice sweet Ketchup, Canadian Heinz has sugar as the second ingredient instead of vinegar, as it is in the US. We notice this about 35 years ago, when we drove over to Windsor for the afternoon. We preferred the sweeter stuff.
I try to avoid Heinz, at least until John Kerry's second wife's first husband's trust fund proceeds go back to the Heinz "kids".
