Another theory that I have is that some of the "kids" younger than about 35 y.o. have not seen sufficient examples of authoritarian socialist/communist countries and how they crush people and their spirit.

I agree with you on that point. Cleary, critical thinking and the lessons of history are not taught in our public schools. They are too busy indoctrinating the our youth and forging in them a group think mentality.
