Lets just say this is only slightly more legit than the Clock Kid.

The amount of energy you are going to get this way is extremely small overall. You would have to be very close to a source of a man made electromagnetic field to get anything significant. Wait and see how well this kids “invention” works during a power outage when all significant sources of electromagnetic emission would be gone. Which is why it really is not free.

Whats more it is not an invention since the principle is simply the use of electricity and magnetism in way that has already been done. But it is not really practical in most cases in the real world to use a device like this. That is why such devices are not sold.
