I have this exact conversation with my customers almost Daily!

Millennial’s, Dumber than Dirt, but some of the Proudest Morons you will ever meet.

I don't think they are dumb from the standpoint of unable or stupid on a functional level...they can learn when pushed...if you can put up with the whining...

They simply have been told their entire lives they are entitled and see no need to learn things like "How to use a Screwdriver"

Someone else will do it for them...!!!

Read a map, use a washing machine or dryer, cook a meal, mow the yard, how to sweep or mop a floor, write a letter on actual paper, address an envelope, write a check, the list is almost endless...

The progeny of local government and connected service business bosses, yes.

Their are some very technically inclined other ones, though, much more so than their parents and grandparents dumped out of the trades long ago. Those younger folks live increasingly more austere, learn to repair many useful things and learn to build many things in order to survive. They use old computers and free software for gathering knowledge.

Let the elite, however, smoke and eat their stylish, legalized drug. Let them spend their time staring at social interactions on their screens. Let them be ever more "socialized" and intent on being the political/regulator class leaders of tomorrow.

Lack of mechanical skills is a sad commentary on the state of the “can-do” American attitude. My son is 26 and there are just a couple of his friends who are totally helpless; the rest seem relatively competent. Don’t write off the entire generation.
He’s city street smart with outdoor skills and absolutely sees through the PC smokescreen along with it’s creeping loss of individual liberty. There still are solid young American men.
