I was a facilities guy for a bank after retiring from Bell.
One day I was helping the IT Geek put together a rack.Screwdriver and cresent wrench,no biggie.
All through the process he kept saying “Righty Tighty Lefty Lucy”.
I have never heard that before and asked him WTF is up with that.He told me its how he remembers how to tighten and loose nuts and bolts.
Unbelievable but he was the same guy the had all 3 UPS units plugged in to the same outlet in the server room.
Righty tighty might have got in trouble changing a flat tire on some old Chrysler models. The lug nuts on the right side of the car turned the opposite direction from the ones on the left side. It had to do with resisting vibration-loosening.
I’m a righty tight left loosy guy. If you’re lying on your back working on a car in weird positions, its handy.
***Righty Tighty Lefty Lucy.***
Wonder if it would mess with his mind if he had to put an oxy-accelyne hose set on a cutting torch.
My dad was an electrical engineer but mainly a big radio geek. In the 1950’s my three-year old little brother would spend all afternoon removing screws from surplus electronic equipment.
I can identify with him, I have a disability when it comes to right and left, my sister, one brother and 2 granddaughters have the same problem. I operate with North, South, East and West. And for a woman, I’m very handy. I also use that phrase or I pretend to hold a pencil.
My husband is always telling me “no, the other right...or left”
