Nice religious screed there.

God forbid that any conservative actually expect science to rule over feelings.

Please show me some scientific evidence that you can consume less energy in the form of food than you burn by exertion without losing weight.

Normal people did, do and will maintain normal weight on a normal diet. The fact is that metabolism slows down at the same time people get less active and often have the financial resources to eat more and richer food. Plus, as you lose muscle mass you need fewer calories.

Absolutely nothing that getting off of one’s ass hitting the gym, going for a run and eating fewer and well balanced calories will not take care of. No one said it’s fun or easy, but the only ‘immorality’ is trying to pretend that the laws of physics are not applicable to someone with a 40 inch waist just because their feelings or some pseudoscience say so.

Immoral fatso? Not my words, but if someone is overweight the answer is looking them right back in the mirror.

“God forbid that any conservative actually expect science to rule over feelings.”

The knowledge of this particular science you display does not justify your having an opinion on the subject. You think that the miniscule particle of knowledge you possess is all there is.

“Please show me some scientific evidence that you can consume less energy in the form of food than you burn by exertion without losing weight.”

Hey, there were a couple of threads on that right here during the past few weeks. Keep up.

“Absolutely nothing that getting off of one’s ass hitting the gym, going for a run and eating fewer and well balanced calories will not take care of.”

For people who can maintain a normal weight with a reasonable amount of exercise and a reasonable diet, it is very flattering to believe that anyone could do the same if only they tried. This belief places them in a position of moral superiority vis a vis those who cannot (or, in your view, are too weak to) maintain a normal weight. If there are actual metabolic issues, then you are not morally superior, but only fortunate. Quite a demotion.

The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias wherein...highly skilled individuals may underestimate their relative competence, erroneously assuming that tasks that are easy for them are also easy for others.

This is what we’re dealing with when somebody who can remain slim on a lousy 24 miles per week and 30 hours of other exercise says the things you say.

H.I.I.T.

High Intensity Interval Training

HIGHLY Recommended!

I hit the Fitness club 5-6 days a week and include 15-20 minutes of HIIT on elliptical. My aerobic conditioning “High Intensity” rate is typically someone 15-20 years younger than my actual age.

A strong heart & aerobic system goes hand-in-hand with fitness conditioning and proper eating.

Sounds liked somebody better call the Whaaabulance..

If someone has a problem, look in the mirror. I look in the mirror and like what I see, but then I get off my ass and run and lift.

There’s no more (or less) to it than that.

“There’s no more (or less) to it than that.”

There’s no shame in ignorance. Insisting on remaining ignorant, however, is deeply shameful.

So what makes you qualified to throw the word “ignorant” around at other people’s posts? Your views seem to justify obesity even though it is, frankly, a problem that can be corrected. No one criticizes people who are fat but want to lose weight and stay healthy. The real issue is people who are fat (or live an unhealthy lifestyle), justify it, and shame others into accepting “who they are,” whatever that means.

“So what makes you qualified to throw the word “ignorant” around at other people’s posts?”

The fact that I am possessed of information they lack.

“Your views seem to justify obesity”

No, they don’t. Not in any way.

“even though it is, frankly, a problem that can be corrected.”

And there’s the ignorance again. It is a problem that *some* people can correct. Others cannot.

“No one criticizes people who are fat but want to lose weight and stay healthy.”

Nonsense.

“The real issue is people who are fat (or live an unhealthy lifestyle), justify it, and shame others into accepting “who they are,” whatever that means.”

If there are such people, and I guess there probably are, they are hugely outnumbered by those who labor mightily but are unable to lose weight by any means short of cutting it off with a knife, hate themselves for it, and don’t care much for people who smugly assume that a person can only be fat through his own misconduct.
