Why would Ted Cruz do something that so obviously benefits no one but whichever socialist candidate the Democrats nominate?

I truly just don't understand his behavior.

I don't know but we now had two in a row that have advanced unchallenged with sealed records about their past and nationality.
Because his ego is so big he refuses to see reality. I believe he has fallen for the whole “I’m anointed by God to be POTUS”. Interestingly enough - Joseph Smith (Mormon founder) also claimed that when he ran for POTUS in 1844.
