His general-election appeal in question, Donald Trump's senior team is promising anxious Republicans that voters will see "a real different guy" soon after the GOP front-runner claims his party's presidential nomination.
"When he's out on the stage, when he's talking about the kinds of things he's talking about on the stump, he's projecting an image that's for that purpose," Paul Manafort, who is leading Trump's primary election strategy, told Republican National Committee members in a private briefing late Thursday. The Associated Press obtained a recording of the discussion.
"You'll start to see more depth of the person, the real person. You'll see a real different guy," Manafort said.
"He gets it," Manafort said of Trump's need to moderate his brash personality. "The part that he's been playing is evolving into the part that now you've been expecting, but he wasn't ready for, because he had first to complete the first phase. The negatives will come down. The image is going to change."

He inherited nothing in Manhattan. He built it. His dad didn’t own there and any inheritance was shared 4 ways. So try to lie a little less obviously.
Cruz has shown that he is in no way the guy I once supported. He is a liar who will do anything with anyone to get the prize of power his dad told him he was anointed to get. Scary guy!
I like the picture of the Trump racks better.
He never claimed to be a social conservative beyond his love of family and his position on drugs. He said a long time ago that the Supreme rulers had dictated on gay special rights and it was time to move on.
People on this forum who support Trump may be many things, but the one absolute thing they are not is “a conservative”.
At best, Trump is a Moderate Democrat/Republican and he will run as a moderate/liberal in the general election and you will wonder what happened to the person you thought he was.
“he sure is fooling enough people around here”
I am sure as hell not voting for Elmer Gantry. GO TRUMP GO
Not all of us, though a low profile seems to be necessary.
So sorry that you dont understand the world of business, and the fact that you need to be cordial and pleasant to people you might not like or actually despise. How do you think his business dealing would go if he deliberately poked a standing senator in the eye.
We get it, your bigoted towards people from the northeast. Your no better than those who consider Idaho pointless flyover country.
Mr Trump, as a private citizen has had nothing to do with the current state of anything going on with govt, legislation or policy.
The Lady and the Snake . . . “You knew what I was when you picked me up,” hissed the snake as he slithered away.
“He inherited his real estate empire”
Still pushing that lie, I see.
I don’t believe it....
he is as real as WWW/OWW/Whatever ! ( ; )

You need to find a new hobby. Following politics is proving beyond your ability.
“I’m actually going to give Trump a little bit of credit here. He’s being candid. He’s telling us he’s lying to us,” Cruz told host Mark Levin. “You look at what his campaign manager says, is that this is just an act. This is just a show.”
Well Ted, no. The reference is his style, not campaign issues.
But Ted knows all about whereof he speaks, as he will condemn TPA and the Corker bill on the stump, after he voted for both bills.
I don’t expect to see Trump pursue his present style, with, say, a campaign appearance in Baton Rouge and a G-7 conference in London.
For some strange reason, the “wizards of smart” claim to not be able to understand how that works when it comes to Trump. As if he built a ten billion dollar empire with just entertainment skills.
Of course he didn't. His first partners were mobsters...
so there's that...
Thanks for posting that.
Anyone who has read “The Art of the Deal” has a much better understanding of who the man is. He wrote it in 1987, well before he seriously even considered running for the Presidency. He has been consistent in all of his views that are important. Only people who look at him in a superficial way could say otherwise.
BTW, I say this as someone who grew up in the Northeast, and who viewed Trump as not much better than a self-centered clown until last year. However, I am the kind of person who likes to do research, to study and consider things before making important decisions. Reading his book - particularly because it was written so long ago (so that it would filter out present motivations) was an important part of doing that. I now view him as an unabashed patriot, the grandson of immigrants (like me), who understands that the country his grandparents came to, and his parents prospered in, no longer exists - and he wants to re-create it for all of the best reasons.
I look forward to this primary race being over, to the smoothing over of the ruffled feathers over the next few months, and to a united Republican Party massively defeating the corrupt Leftist, Clinton.
“He inherited his real estate empire,”
The ACTUAL facts are that he started with nothing from his parents except an education, an understanding that hard work was necessary to succeed, and the good genes to be quite intelligent. Oh, and a loan for $1 million. He turned all of that into a business empire worth over $1 billion (including repaying the loan, plus interest) by the time his father died in the late 1990s. Yes, THEN he inherited a tidy sum - but he was already on the Forbes 400 BEFORE that event. There were many times when he could have missed out on deals, or the deals could have gone bad, but his knowledge and character, combined with a bit of luck to be in the right place at the right time, allowed him to be incredibly successful. Oh, and he did fail a few times - like almost every entrepreneur out there...but he dusted himself off and got back on the horse again.
If you don’t like the guy, that’s fine with me - we all have the right to our opinions. But we DON’T have a right to our own facts. Maybe, before you cite a reason to disparage someone, you should become a bit better informed and VERIFY that your first impression was correct - and, if not, then adjust accordingly.
The reality is that Fred Trump built an empire of 29,000 housing units in NYC. He took Donald on board and eventually gave him control of the empire. Housing in NYC is some of the most valuable real estate on Earth. But he's self made.
I guess you each focused on that bit of minutiae and ignored the rest of my post because you're finally starting to realize that we're right about the phony you've decided to worship. It must feel like you're coming out of a coma.
It may be true that you can't fool all the people all the time, but you can fool enough of them to rule a large country.
