I have to wonder what would happen if 60 years ago you said that antibiotics were dangerous because of the Bacterial resistance....

They would probably call you an anti-antibiotic kook.

I think the vaccines DO have issues, but it is a cost / risk analysis that needs to be done. certainly for major illnesses like polio, Measels, Mumps, Scarlet Fever, etc, Vaccines are a life saver and something that has dropped childhood mortality rates to near zero levels compared to the past.

However, we may learn that some vaccines should not be given to really young babies, or that “bundling” vaccines causes unintended consequences, also that getting constant vaccines for generally non-lethal diseases like the flu, may cause problems later on like auto-immune disorders.

The science of vaccines, like gore-Bull Warming is FAR from settled.

Mush like how antibiotics are not a “cure-all” and abuse of them can lead to all sorts of problems.

Not if your hypothesis was actually feasible and couldn’t be contradicted by observation and experiment. You see, that is how science works. Reasonable people will believe a feasible, confirmable hypothesis (like antibiotic resistance), while only loons will believe an unfeasible, debunked hypothesis (like vaccines cause autism).

There was a sort of cost/benefit analysis done, in that the World Health Organization, U.S. Government and others decided that vaccines are necessary for world health. Non-vaccinated people are at risk and put others at risk. The U.S. Congress some years back passed legislation making the vaccine producers off limits for lawsuits claiming their responsibility for bad vaccine outcomes. One English doctor asserting some linkage between autism and vaccines was publicly shamed, I believe to send a worldwide message. Government research grants don’t exist for vaccine/autism research.

My grandson was born with spina bifida (his lower spine was exposed at birth. He has severe nerve damage, and his immune system is severely compromised. His parents talked about vaccines with his SB specialist.

She was emphatic that being unvaccinated and contracting any of those diseases would likely prove fatal. She did admit that there are alternative and less potentially harmful ways of giving the shots. When he was taken to the pediatrician for his vaccination, the nurse popped out from behind the door and vaccinated him before a conversation could take place. It is their practice to give an ambush shot so the child doesn’t have a chance to tense up.

Soon after, he lost his bubbly personality and developing language, and developed rocking, flapping, and blank stare behaviors. Diagnosis of autism followed, a devastating blow in view of his many SB symptoms, complications, and difficulties. Thanks to an intense intervention program he began to speak again at age 5. At 7, he is not conversational, but can verbally make his needs known, and can express thanks and love to those he trusts thoroughly. He is considered high functioning, for which we are deeply
grateful.

Over the years, I have learned that some doctors who trust me will discuss the vaccine/autism link in private. They agree worldwide vaccination is necessary for the good of all, but believe there should be intensive research to address the delivery of vaccines to high-risk patients. There is almost none of this research, due to the government’s heavy-handed tactics that have dried up research funds and made researchers fear for their reputations and careers.
