Unfortunately, “constitutional conservatives” didn’t give us anyone.

It seems like all the constitutional conservatives around here want to ignore Art. II sec.1 so that their Cubanadian can be President.

It was the Republicans in Congress, 99% of whom are not Constitutional conservatives.

In the piece, Wehner once again cites Madisons compromise incorrectly. Compromise isnt the synonym of capitulation, and constitutional conservatives did not make that argument. No, but our Congressional leadership has fully embraced the concept. Dems say compromise but what they mean is total capitulation to their position and the GOP leadership just bows low and takes it. Over, and over, and over again.

Moderation in the face of tyranny is feeding the crocodile that will eat you last, to paraphrase Churchill. To use Madison in this instance ignores the arguments that Madison used to shape the outcome. Madison was a political genius; Wehner, is not. Some conflict is needed to stop bad policy, some confrontation is needed to define your party from the Democrats, and the Republican Party must stand on the principles they used to get elected. I don't agree with the writer's conclusions but this paragraph is right on!
