*shrug* Susan B. Anthony was anti-abortion, Harriet Tub man was a pro-gun Christian Republican...so far I’m down with those.

Sacajawea, however, was a bit of a waste.

Well, yes. She was not nearly as important as the revised history books make out. But she was a remarkable young woman nonetheless. She was kidnapped as a young teenager, taken over a thousand miles away from her home, sold to/married to a French fur trader and then managed to find her way back to her home village while carrying a newborn. The current theory is that the fact that a new mother was with Lewis & Clark’s heavily armed band of men was a signal to Indian tribes that they were not a war party.

As an added bonus, Ecuador, which uses our money, really likes the fact that there is someone who looks like them on our $1 coin.
