I had one great grandfather who owned slaves and fought for the Confederacy. The other great grandfather fought with the Union in the Army of the Potomac. Both survived the war. I figure one cancels the other if we are doing this based on ancestry.

So will there be a giant government database of ancestry created, to try to sort all of this out??

Or will this be done based on subjective judgements about someone’s race or ethnicity, and the judgement is that you have to pay if you appear to be caucasian????

What about all the Latinos in this country? They had nothing to do with slavery. Do they have to pay? What about all the Asians and other assorted immigrants who have arrived here in recent decades???
