Hi,
When doing a private purchase, how does one confirm that the firearm one is purchasing is not stolen? (Legit question - I don’t know an answer.)

I've only bought from or sold to people I know. I know these folks legitimately owned the firearms, and they know mine are legitimate.

Truly, there is no way to know 100%, unless you do the transaction with a dealer, but that defeats the purpose.
