how many preppers are psychologically prepared to kill another human being
I hear and see the bravado talk often. I just shake my head as many have no idea what it is to take a life.
“many have no idea what it is to take a life”
Agree with that. When it REALLY comes down to it, many (probably including myself) freeze.
I have read many times that the universal response to killing a human for the first time is to get nauseated and vomit. Apparently it is common in battle.
And if you don’t do that, you might be a sociopath.
As an aside, everyone needs to make a list of people who can be trusted in a time of crisis. Neighbors and such.
I have done that already. Now I carry in my head a mental list of those who would be dangerous to my family post SHTF. It even includes certain extended family members who I’ve gained insight on. Druggies, basically, and I do not want them in my house even on a good day.
And I shake my head at some who overstate what it is to take a life. Hollywood loves to make sure that the shooter pukes right afterward. There are those who wouldn't bat an eyelash.
For those that do have an idea, there was a time they also didn't. There's a first time for everything. I hope I don't have to, but I'm fairly certain I won't hesitate.
Don’t pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he’ll just kill you”—John Steinbeck
It depends on the threat, no? I think you’d see some parents do some pretty violent things to someone who threatens the lives of their children. I doubt those parents think of that as bravado.
You’d also likely be surprised at the number of husbands who would open a can of major whoop-ass on anyone who threatened their wives.
In a nutshell, people will often do “the ultimate” to protect their loved ones. And, when you get right down to it, isn’t that what a SHTF scenario is?
Don’t sell your fellow Americans short. Many will fight if it comes to that.
