I remember, before the donors just outright bought them, only 2 or 3 candidates would even run. It would be clear early who was going to win the nomination.

No they gave Kasich money to stay in so he could keep Ohio’s 66 delegates from Trump. They also let him stay in case he can get some delegates in PA or NY. Cruz can’t get any there.
