So the rules are...you win a state but the losers can come and take all of the delegates? So can Trump take all of Utah and Texas delegates now?

If he knew how and had competent people, that’d be a possibility. Barring that, no.

As I understand it, Colorado does not have a Republican primary. So there was no “winner” for the state. (So no delegates “to steal”. The nominee is chosen during the state convention. Probably similar to what a contested national convention would look like. With supporters of the various candidates debating, arguing, and persuading the delegates to pledge their support for a certain candidate.

I believe that is a little more similar to the way the nominees were chosen in the early days of our nation. State primaries only came about in the early 1900’s.

My state (Washington State) has both a Republican caucus, a Convention, AND a primary. I was at our district caucus and more than 95% of the delegates elected said they would vote for Cruz if they had the chance. However, if Trump is voted the winner in the primary, then the delegates have to vote for him on the first ballot. But if there is a second ballot, they can vote for whoever they want to.

No outsider would be able to do this. You need party backing to do this. Cruz has plenty. They changed the rules when Ron Paul was running to make it difficult for outsiders. But if you're a party person, a card carrying member of the Uniparty, well, doors magically open for you and you can steal anything you want. It is "their" party after all. Now it's obvious to everyone they don't even have to pretend to care about the voters in presidential elections anymore.

See how much I care about "their" party in local elections from now on.

It’s working great for Hillary.

Extrapolate what you will, from that.

It’s no different than the GOPe stealing the primary for Thad Cochran in Mississippi.
