I agree. How did the founding fathers deal with people who betrayed their voters?
Tar and feathers was frequently fatal... and was often coupled with riding the rail.
Hanging was always fatal.
Riding out of town on the rail was a lot like being impaled and it did no permanent damage... as long as it was not coupled with coverage with boiling tar and a coating of feathers.
But those were all mob justice.
There should be some form of carrot and stick that could “persuade” traitors in this delegate matter to reconsider their actions.
Maybe Manafort has a few useful ideas.
