All this is specualtion until the Rules Committee meets the week before the convention and
sets the rules for the 2016 convention and which the convention has to adopt after
convening. Remember Rule 40 from 2012 which prohibited such a thing? If it stays in
for 2016 then Romney is out.

Nope, he's still in. The problem is that Rule 40 only has teeth on the first ballot.

Because after the first ballot, the delegates can vote as they wish. If a majority in 8 or more states switch to Romney, then he CAN be nominated under Rule 40.

At least that's the way I see it.

Rule 40 would be abolished if no one has a clear path. If they don’t do that, going into the convention, then no one would get the necessary votes—not would they be able to nominate anyone else (good, bad or indifferent.)

This is only going to go on until NY. After that date, either Trump will get the 1237, or no one will.

The MR trial balloon is ridiculous. I would rather they nominate Dick Cheney or Bob Dole.
