They are staying in the race because they know the chance of him getting a majority is slim. Apparently even Trump thinks so or he would not be threatening riots if they refuse to give it to him if he has only a plurality.
How about Donald Trump/Duncan Hunter?
His chance of a majority is better than even, and, as I pointed out and which you have trouble understanding, it wouldn’t even be an issue in any election in history because once the number 2 and 3 are eliminated and can’t win anymore, they drop out. In this race, at the behest of the GOPe, they are staying in. If he doesn’t get a majority, it is because he only got a huge plurality in a 5 way race in which the last two stayed in with money from the RNC and its donor class.
I used to be a Cruz supporter. He even followed me on Twitter. Asked for money every day and so did Heidi. Then came Iowa and what happened with Ben Carson and started noticing that if he’s talking he’s lying. I now support Trump. He makes mistakes campaigning but I believe he will rid us of some of the corruption.
If Trump is not the nominee I will write in vote his name because no one else can beat Hillary, especially John Kasich, no matter how much he brags about it.
The Convention Rules are adopted by the convention delegates as their first order of business.
Last time around, Romney was able to cram through changes to Rule 40 (increasing the eligibility requirement to 8 states) because he controlled a majority of the delegates. This time around (assuming that neither Trump nor Cruz locks in the nomination before the convention), any changes to Rule 40 will have to be voted in either by (a) both Trump’s and Cruz’s delegates or (b) either Trump’s delegates or Cruz’s delegates joining with the delegates pledged to the other candidates.
I just cannot see any reason it would be in the interests of either Trump’s delegates or Cruz’s delegates to expand the list of eligible nominees.
Remember at the Democrat convention when three times the delegates voted against God in their platform, but the chair ruled it to be passed regardless?
I wouldn't put it past the GOPe chair to rule that a rule change is passed regardless of how loud the voice vote against ends up being.

Much Better!
I don’t think he’s going to get a majority. Obviously Cruz and Kasich don’t either or they wouldn’t bother continuing on. And in fact Trump says there will be riots if he comes within 100 votes of a majority and yet is not nominated so apparently even he doesn’t think it’s going to happen.
Great, Trump lies every day or just contradicts himself because he has no clue about much of anything.
