Historians will have a rich trove to research when they study 2016. With America at a dire crossroads, open borders, record debt, unfunded huge liabilities, a weakening economy, the loss of free speech and other civil liberties, the threat of terrorism, cultural decline etc etc, The American people in that year were forced to decide between a corrupt, inherently dishonest, closeted lesbian of no real accomplishments and a rather pompous businessman with a sketchy personal and business past who has understood the frustrations of the electorate but to date has not demonstrated the competence to be President. Entire careers will be made examining the reasons American democracy came to this point of madness. Perhaps we are being haunted by the ghost of Benjamin Franklin. “We have given you a republic, if you can keep it.”
