Ted Cruz spoke to Chris Cuomo this morning on CNN about the Twitter battle that took place between the two of them last night on Western Tuesday. This is what he had to say:
TRANSCRIPT
Cruz: But what Donald did last night, and listen, youre in New York, youve seen this a lot. When Donald gets scared, when he gets angry, when hes threatened, he begins yelling, he begins screaming, he begins often cursing, and he begins trying to be a bully. So last night Donald threatened my wife, he went directly after my wife. And I gotta tell you, number one- Heidi, my wife, shes the daughter of missionaries in Africa, shes my best friend in the world, and if Donald wants to get in a character fight, hes better off sticking with me because Heidi is way out of his league. But it is also– it reveals a lot about character, it reveals a lot about class, that Donalds instinct is to try to attack my wife and sully her. And you know what, that should be beneath Donald. But you know Chris, the reason hes doing that? Is because he had a very bad night last night. He got clobbered in Utah. Remember Donald campaigned in Utah, he tried to win in Utah, and he got blown out of the water. And he is seeing Republican uniting behind our campaign.
He’s not wrong.

“There is no proof that Cruz had anything to do with the pictures...Theres no proof that he didnt either...
The PAC that posted the pictures is against Trump...
Cruz is against Trump...
Now what is that old saying...The enemy of my enemy is my friend...???”
Here we go again...
Your logic is completely delusional and baseless.
So if you are DISASSOCIATED with a group that agrees with you, they are your personal friends?
What kind of wharped world do you live in?
“Now what is that old saying...The enemy of my enemy is my friend...???”
I guess you’d have no problem agreeing then that the Ku Klux Klan is Deceptive Donnie’s friend?
Just defending my candidate against one of Hillary’s long time associates who’s now trying to sell snake oil to conservatives and earn their vote.
Thank you, so true. I was too disgusted to reply, thinking a prig like that deserves the wife he gets.
I take it you’ve never heard that saying before...Not surprised...
He said he is “disassociated” with them, publicly..
How do you know what goes on behind closed doors???
You DO realize that “professional politicians” aren’t the most trustworthy people around....
“What is most amazing is that a bunch you people seem much more interested in stopping Trump than you do in defeating Hillary...”
Why is that “you people” are much more interested in tearing Cruz down then propping up Deceptive Donnie with his positions on the issues?
Trump has always been a businessman first...He has been associated with Hillary and also with many republicans...Anyone who could help his businesses...
That’s what successful business people do...
Trump Threatened My Wife
With what, the truth?
“He said he is disassociated with them, publicly..”
And Ted disassociated himself from the PAC today. Does that matter to you?
“How do you know what goes on behind closed doors???”
Right. I guess we should assume there’s something going on behind closed doors between Deceptive Donnie and the Ku Klux Klan.
You ever heard the saying about assuming? “When you assume, you make an ass out of you and me.”
“You DO realize that professional politicians arent the most trustworthy people around....”
Yeah. Right. So 100% of them are completely dishonest, right? Another one of your assumptions?
So I guess you’d believe another stereotypical assumption about billionaire businessmen doing whatever it takes to make a profit (including being immoral and unethical) and trampling over the rights of people to get ahead?
I support Trump’s issues of closing our borders, removing as many ILLEGAL aliens as wecan get our hands on...
Stopping Muslims from infiltrating our country through the utterly ridiculous refugee amnesty programs that have been set up...Building aa effective wall along our southern border and having only certain places where access is permitted with valid, vetted passes that have been totally cleared by a COMPETENT Border Security...
I agree with Trump about creating a “level playing field” when it comes to international trade. Developing tariffs and taxes to make moving American companies overseas much less lucrative...
Are you AGAINST these things????????
“Ted disassociated himself from the PAC today”
Since he wasn’t associated with them to begin with (it’s illegal),
how could he disassociate himself from them today?
Please show me where I said 100% of them are completely dishonest......
I appreciate your response and apologize for not replying earlier. I had some work that could not be delayed.
I am certain that you are aware that GS has many vice presidents and while Mrs. Cruz was an operational manager of one unit, she was not involved in management of the corporation. I doubt she managed any of Mr. Trump’s investments but she did deal with some wealthy individuals. It is certainly a fact that she was a very accomplished and successful woman in her own right. I would hope that success in her chosen field would not be held against her husband any more than the success in their chosen field of the wife of any of the other two candidates.
As to Mr. Trump advocating for and contributing to liberal causes and candidates my source is none other than Mr. Trump himself. In several debates, he clearly acknowledged past support for and contribution to liberal causes and politicians. He justified that by stating that it was to further his business interest and to buy influence. His candor might be admirable, but it does little to bolster his creditability as the leader of our government. The old phrase, do we want the fox guarding the hen house, might be applicable.
This race needs to be about the two candidates, their policy positions and demonstrated knowledge and ability in those areas necessary to carry out the duties of a president. Their ability to build a hotel, argue a case in court, or for that matter to fly a kite or walk a dog, is irrelevant to me. What their wife looks like or what job she holds in also not an issue. At a minimum, I want to be confident that they have the good judgment to select able individuals to manage the government and the knowledge to oversee those managers. Also, I want them to have the philosophical understanding necessary to formulate and implement sound policy and the temperament to deal rationally when confronted with adversity. Both candidates may possess those characteristics, but so far this campaign has been more about tearing down opponents that demonstrating abilities.
First of all, there MANY more important issues than JUST immigration and trade. I don’t make my decisions solely on those issues, but I’m not at all leery about Cruz’s policies on those issues. Furthermore, I have no doubt about where Cruz stands on every single core conservative, constitutional issue there is, because he has a strong record of standing up for those issues, unlike Deceptive Donnie who has done nothing but support ultra-liberal candidates and their issues his entire life.
Second, I don’t believe that imposing massive tariffs is good for our economy; it will bring a huge increase in the cost of goods that we buy and hyper inflation. I am in favor of “a level playing field” and better trade deals.
Third, I don’t have a problem with some of his immigration positions, but it depends on what position he actually believes in. You might want to find a candidate who’s more consistent on his immigration positions.
For instance, did you notice anything about his pro-amnesty position on Morning Joe just about a month ago?
Well, the first thing we do is take the bad ones, of which there are, unfortunately, quite a few. We take the bad ones, and get them the hell out. . . . We have to get the bad ones out. Then the other ones and Im a very big believer in merit system. I have to tell you. Because some of these people have been here, theyve done a good job. You know, in some cases, sadly, theyve been living under the shadows, etc. etc. We have to do something. So, whether its merit or whether its whatever, but Im a believer in the merit system. If somebodys been outstanding, we try and work something out. But before we do anything, Joe, we have to secure the border....
I might mention Hobby Lobby and Chick-fil-A. There are other business with a different operational ethic. Whether in business or out, people usually do what they are comfortable with.
Doesn’t really sound very “pro” amnesty to me...He has said that they would leave and have to go through the proper procedures for re-entering the United states...You know, like what our laws require...
Tariffs will not create huge increases in the goods we manufacture...Only the ones we bring in from the countries the tariffs were applied to. That would increase American manufacturing in America...
Here is a difference I think I see between you and I...
If Trump is NOT the nominee and Cruz is...I will vote for Cruz and pull as hard as I can for his victory...
I don’t think you will say the same if Trump is the nominee....
You made the point that Cruz is a “professional politician” and Deceptive Donnie is a businessman. As if that is proof as to the credibility of either of them.
If you’ve watched the debates and looked at the stories of things that Trump, you would have to admit there has at least been at least a “shifting of positions” or “walking back” on a variety of different issues. Is that lying or is Trump just being a really good politician?
“Doesnt really sound very pro amnesty to me...”
I think you better read his statement again. You notice he said, “We have to get the bad ones out.” He didn’t say we need to get all of them out.
Then he said, “I’m a very big believer in merit system. I have to tell you. Because some of these people have been here, theyve done a good job. You know, in some cases, sadly, theyve been living under the shadows, etc. etc. We have to do something.”
That statement sounds EXACTLY like Rubio. He even uses Rubio’s term “merit system”. You don’t see that?
Tariffs are a tax. Taxes filter down to the consumer. This is basic conservative Tax 101 principles. If he puts too heavy of a tariff on goods, you don’t see that will affect the consumer?
As for Trump in the general election, as much as I believe he is an awful candidate who’s stand on the issues I can’t rely on, I would be forced to vote for him because the consequences of Hillary are even worse.
I don’t want it to come to that, because I think we can put a much better AND more electable candidate in Cruz. Trump has alienated so many voters, I fear we are screwed in a general election if he’s the candidate.
[Both men made their reputations as accusers and witch hunters.]
It’s Déjà vu all over again.
He has said remove the ones that are bad, but he also said he was willing to let the ones who passed muster allowed back through the lawful correct procedures...You can’t let them BACK without removing them first...That is what he has been saying all along...
Do you not believe in the “merit system”??? Are you a union member, by chance???
Yes, tariffs are a type of tax...On the American company that is manufacturing in another country and shipping BACK to the USA to cut expenses so there’s MORE profit. The tariffs would take away the incentive to manufacture overseas and bring the American company back to the US which would raise employment a great deal...That is a simplified way of describing the occurrences...
