"The party has not lifted a finger to help him..."
Noting that Sen. Ted Cruz has waged a zealous, uphill campaign in the shadow of other candidates the headline writers have focused upon, conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh admonished the oddsmakers Friday not to write off the Texan too soon.
Limbaugh was asked by a caller, "Do you think that Cruz still has an honest chance to win?"
"Yeah, I do," Limbaugh said as part of his reply. "I don't think it's anywhere near over yet."
Limbaugh noted that Cruz has been last in media publicity, but has soldiered on with a prodigious fund-raising ability and is a strong second to front-runner Donald Trump.
"Everybody wants you to believe one of two things: It's over, Cruz is not gonna get there, Trump is, and we're gonna go to a contested convention and it's gonna be between (Ohio Gov. John) Kasich and whoever else the establishment can throw up," Limbaugh said. "It still amazes me."
Limbaugh added, "And here, again, nobody's talking about Ted Cruz. And he's there every day, and he's out campaigning. He's going everywhere, and he is in second place despite all of the obstacles that have been put in his way. So I think he can win.
"He is hated by the establishment, and they are the ones that totally ignore him. The party has not lifted a finger to help him, and even now when they are starting to, they make it known that they're not happy to be doing it.
"He is being dwarfed and swamped by unprecedented coverage of Trump, who hasn't had to spend any money to get it. Nobody wants to talk about Ted Cruz. We're told over and over that everybody in the Senate hates him. We're told over and over everybody in Washington hates him. But yet he's in second place and he's won nine states. So you're asking me if I think Ted Cruz can win? Yeah, I do. I don't think it's anywhere near over yet. "
PROVE IT!
Trump and Soros ... partners in crime.
2016 Republican presidential candidate and billionaire real estate investor Donald Trump borrowed money from progressive-leaning billionaire George Soros back in 2004 to build the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago.
In October of 2004, Thomas A. Corfman wrote in The Chicago Tribune, Donald Trump has lined up three New York hedge funds, including money from billionaire George Soros, to invest $160 million in his Chicago skyscraper, a key piece in perhaps the largest construction financing in the citys history, according to real estate sources and public documents. The $160 million investment is in the form of a mezzanine loan, a kind of second mortgage that typically charges a much higher interest rate than a first-mortgage construction loan.
Trump and Soros were also listed as co-defendants in a 2008 RICO lawsuit disputing the sale of a Manhattan General Motors building. A report on the case by Pensions and Investments listed Trump and Soros as investors in the property.
So, don’t pull the Soros thing on me.
I tell the truth and you don't, a common difference between a-holes and other folk.
LMAO watching certain posters here heads explode. Absolutely priceless.
I agree Cruz hasn’t received a dime of Soros money, Cruz is not the kind of people Soros supports
You continue to prove my point.
The point is that we need to defeat Hillary Clinton and Trump cannot do it.
He is an extremely divisive person who has splintered Free Republic into enemy camps.
I’ve never seen anything like it.
He has an unheard of dislike factor ... the lowest ever of any politician.
Hillary has her built-in lunatic base. Trump would need to get the support of Republicans. Say what you will about Republicans, if they don’t support Trump or don’t vote, Hillary will win.
I have great reservations about Trump, about his character and about his positions and whether he will do what he’s promised.
But I can vote for him if he’s nominated.
Too many people won’t.
What’s this about Cruz getting soros $? I know kaisich did but hadn’t heard it about Cruz.
Absolutely right! Never was a fan of Limbaugh, and he reminds me of Rove. Rush and Rove...it is past time for these dead brain millionaires to retire.
Well, it may be that Trump actually has a better shot at doing that. He does seem to be attracting a lot of support from demographic groups that don’t usually vote for conservatives but did for Reagan. And now Trump. I think most working Americans see the dangers of unlimited immigration and free trade and outsourcing. Bottom line, it’s about jobs.
Pretty low, Heights. So's your sign:
Not really:
http://www.thegreenpapers.com/P16/R
Trump won 37% of votes-7,548,429 and -> 696 delegates.
Cruz won 27% of votes- 5,484,494 and -> 424 delegates.
~~Countdown to 1237 delegates~~
The race is >60% over. Remaining state delegates- 906 are available as hard pledged delegates (97 are free agents.) To be nominated on the 1st round, you must have complied with Rule 40.
Trump must win 59% or at least 541/906 delegates.
Trump won 11 or 12 Majority delegations (Rule 40).
Trump can afford to lose up to 365 delegates.
Ted must win 90% or at least 813/906 delegates.
Ted must win 4 more Majority state delegations (Rule 40).
Ted can give up no more than 93 future delegates.
Given what we know, Trumps road to an undisputed victory is quite possible and probable. Teds path to winning is like that of a tight rope walker, but less fun to watch.
I guess we’ll see.
But I am worried about it.
We could be sure of a win with Cruz.
Shut up, filth.
Right. And I'm sure you believe that good men also praise Planned Parenthood for doing wonderful things. This from the same guy who says that anyone that doesn't see PP in the same way he does is not a common sense conservative
Are you a common sense conservative? Rush isn't. Rush is a better man on his worst day than you can ever hope to be.
“Do you have proof that Cruz has taken bribes for political favors.”
ALL politicians who take hundreds of millions in “donations” either directly or via PACs owe hundreds of millions in favors.
Currently, Cruz needs to win 80% of the remaining delegates. We'll see if he pulls a miracle on Tuesday, or just falls further behind.
But not on abortion. Big difference. The "conservatives" have been running against abortion for years and years. They will never do anything about it, and will lie to you about how important it is just like how they lie to you about amnesty and illegals and everything else.
Never took probability and statistics, did you?
your statement is disinformation. there have only been 20-30 cases over the last 7 years that i’ve heard of. each had been dismissed without going to trial, most under the excuse of ‘no standing’.
for the democrats, they will attack Cruz because they want the power of the office.
and the case against Cruz being eligible is fairly easy. he was born in another country, whose citizenship he had to relinquish last year.
it’s a much easier case... even without involving the actual definition used by the Founders as they knew it. as written in 1758 in ‘the law of nations’... a book they definitely would have consulted at the time
