Republican Elite determined to elect Hillary

Unfortunately, the sad, but disturbing, truth is that many in the Republican Party leadership would much prefer President Hillary Clinton to President Donald Trump

The hysteria coming from GOP conservative purists and party insiders about Donald Trump is reaching ridiculous proportions. Talk show host Glenn Beck has compared the Republican frontrunner to Hitler, while Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse has thundered that he will never support Trump if he is the nominee.

The problem for these Trump haters is that he has garnered an impressive 7.5 million votes to date, along with 679 delegates. In the process, he has won 19 states, more than double the number for his nearest competitor, Texas Senator Ted Cruz. He is clearly energizing Americans across the country and winning in every region of the country.

“I’ve never seen GOPe republicans attack democRats as viciously as they attack conservatives....I’m at the point where I believe in and will accept the destruction of the party as we know it, even if that means Hillary as POTUS.”

There is error in thinking that the GOP establishment seeks self-preservation as the sole motivation for denying Trump the nomination. I have heard (mainly from liberal acquaintances) the bilge that they know many Republicans who would rather have Hillary as a matter of “re-energizing and re-focusing” the party. Nonsense. Anyone calling themselves a Republican or conservative willing to vote for Hillary (or alternatively, not vote) should drop the charade.

I would imagine that the establishment does not want Trump for the very obvious reason that they do not think he can win in November. Mitt Romney and other establishment folks may be political elites, but they are not fools and care for this country in a far different way than does Obama and his mass of progressive followers. To stay away from the voting booth simply because the nominee does not check all the blocks is a disservice to one’s right to vote. I don’t like Trump from what I have seen nor do I think he can win. But I will vote for him simply because I know the alternative is more dreadful.

I believe he's been a stealth "insider" all along. What evidence has ever been presented to prove that he was hated by the establishment? Where did that come from? I can understand that he's not well liked. His unlikeability is there for all to see, even in his interactions with his daughter, as evidenced by the photo of her recoiling when he attempted to kiss her, or the most recent where she's making "bunny ears" behind him at a public event.

Well, if trump and his trump-pets would simply *stop* alienating over half the GOP electorate that has so far rejected trump, preferring instead one of the other candidates, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

Does trump have a strong following? Absolutely! Driven in many cases purely by rage.

But despite his wins in the primary races so far, well over half the electorate has voted for someone else (go check the primary results for each state so far, I’m not going to post them again). The next round of primaries (or next two or three rounds) are either going to cinch it for trump -OR- push further towards a contested or brokered convention. To avoid that, trump would be well advised to start specifically courting those other voters instead of alienating them.

Make no mistake, I’m not saying cruz or kasich has a chance at 1237 delegates. But you would ignore at your peril, the more than fair chance cruz and kasich would net just enough delegates to *deny* trump 1237 — and that would be the opening the GOPe has an army of folks prepped and in the starting blocks for, just waiting for the signal.

Cue all the rabid trump-pets to start flaming me because I dared to mention their emperor may not be completely naked, but has some big frayed holes in his drawers and needs to consolidate voters and work on his negatives.

“The American ruling class has been trying to figure out for years, if not decades, how to manage decline, how to get Americans to get used to diminished expectations, how to adapt to the notion that life for the next generation will be worse than for the previous generation, and now, how to accept low to zero growth rates as the new economic normal.”

The thing is, obama was an extremely damaged candidate. He had so much garbage on him. It could have been an easy win for the right if

they would have fought. The reason why trump is where he is is because

he is willing to get down in the gutter and meet those SOB’s where they

live. He is willing to use anything his enemy has.

If Obama was running against trump trump would have hammered him

with rev wright. He would have pummeled him with bill ayers.

He would have railed him with his weak political record. Those thing

MIGHT have been mentioned here and there but were quickly dropped

by McCain and Mittens. Trump is relentless and won’t let the media

ignore what a complete mess the Hildabeast is.

If the GOPe takes out Trump at this point, they will be guaranteeing a Hillary POTUS. Especially if they put someone on the ticket who either didn't run in the primaries, or someone who did and failed. The SAME GOPe that hates Trump, despises and hates Cruz even more.

While I will never vote for Hitlery, I won't support a guaranteed to lose GOPe handpicked hack either.

You are assuming that Trump is the only candidate that can win and you are correct with respect to the thinking of the voter base of which we are both members. And I am not so naive to believe that Romney’s current call to support Cruz would last any longer than the first convention vote. I tend to go with the notion that avid Trump supporters believe he can win but the establishment likely knows he cannot. Do I trust the establishment more than my own instincts? Not necessarily, but I certainly don’t discount their fears or their actions to deny Trump the nomination if he does not have a delegate majority going in. And if in that case, the convention results in someone other than Trump, that nominee must be actively supported to keep the Hillary disaster from even getting close to the White House.

Romney essentially said he endorsed Cruz for the sole purpose of denying Trump enough delegates to win...in order setup the ability pick someone else at the convention....someone in the same vein as the shit sandwiches the GOPe has continued to serve up the last few election cycles.

That WON’T work anymore, and is guaranteed to elect Hitlery...unless Trump rightfully tells the GOPe to go pound sand and runs third party, which at that point I would have to support.
