What if Trump And Cruz Had Run One On One

Ted Cruz Might Still Be Able To Stop Donald Trump All he needs is for Rubio to drop out three weeks ago.

By NATE SILVER

The good news for the Republican “establishment” is that there’s a man who might be able to stop Donald Trump. The bad news is that it’s Ted Cruz, someone they may dislike almost as much.

Cruz, who won Idaho on Tuesday while finishing second to Trump in Michigan, Mississippi and Hawaii, is within striking distance of Trump. So far, 29 percent of Republican primary voters have voted for Cruz as compared with 35 percent for Trump. Meanwhile, Cruz trails Trump by 100 delegates: not a trivial gap, although only one more than the 99 at stake in winner-take-all Florida next Tuesday.

Sad that Cruz has to have others drop out so he has a chance. Not much of a strong candidate then. Trump is winning regardless of how many are in. Message always wins.

Even without a two man race Cruz would be better off than he is now had he not taken the South for granted.

No Trump and Ted faded 5 months ago. Trump took out all the establishment phonies. So it's an impossible hypothetical. It would never have been only Trump and Ted, the establishment would always have run 2 or 3 or 4 candidates against them. Ted is in essence a free rider on what Trump has done to the GOPe and he's still hanging on because the people he could never have eliminated have been eliminated by Trump. Now he will be gone soon, too. He is a stiff, and now that he has signed up with the establishment, it is all over for him.

Where was Trump when Cruz battled the GOP-e over the Gang of Eight and stood up for repealing Obamacare? Trump was funneling donations to Reid, Pelosi, and the Clintons.

I know your TDS prevents you from underatanding facts, but here is a slight hint ... he was NOT a politician. What did YOU do? Oh, let me guess, you wrote a post in a forum which nobody read or cared about? Oh wait, I know ... you sent your congressman a strongly worded email!

Will Cruz’ers stay with Ted when the GOPe is out there bragging that they are using him as weapon against Trump? Meaning that they will dump him and pick another Romney loser at the convention.

Ted Cruz is the worst kind of politico ... he is a religious extremist to the core and if anybody thinks he has a chance in the general election, you will be very disappointed. Do some research on his background, his father, etc.. And you can bet that the Democrats will make that front and center. America would never elect him.

My wife and I are Christians, but are really turned off by a politician who wears the Bible around his neck like a prop. He reminds us of all the do-gooders who tell you how to live your life, then get busted for some perverse action.

Has anybody noticed that he doesn’t speak like you, he preaches, like he is delivering a sermon. We have a peace with our God, we don’t need a Ted Cruz to guide us. We need a president to put this country back on the right track, while realizing that yes, it will take some compromising.

I’ll be the first to say Trump is no Reagan, but Trump’s example of Reagan using the bully pulpit to get support from the people and working with Tip O’Neil is spot on.

Cruz’s style and over the top proposals are not based in reality. If he were to somehow be elected, he would be in for a shock his first month in Washington because they will run rings around him; he would be lame duck by his second month.

We live in Florida, so Rubio is not even a choice for us; we know him too well.

We are standing and voting for Donald Trump !!

I think the other candidates may regret trying to remain being politically correct, it made them appeared as being cowered by the protest groups, not exactly a Presidential image. Its a new game now, America does need a President with cojones.

Cruz would beat Trump one on one.

-----------------------------

Perhaps, but only in closed primary states. Trump appears to be bringing in voters who have never before voted R, and who are registered as independent or Rat.

We have been hearing this every night at FR since Cruz beat Trump in Iowa.

You really have no idea how badly Cruz hurt himself tonight.

You will.

“What if Trump And Cruz Had Run One On One”

Until his Chicago comments (i.e., siding with the protesters that kept Trump from speaking) Cruz would have done well against Trump one-on-one.

Not anymore...

No kidding but these are myopic

This forum supports Trump about 60%

After tonight it’s around 95-97%

Look at all these threads with Cruz folks ....people I argued with just days ago...saying Cruz is not who they thought he was

It’s incredible

These assholios all want to win so bad they will side with the enemy

It’s pathetic

In the face of all that Cruz ops here continue loud and obnoxious but with precious few takers

The political life of Ted Cruz ended tonight
