God does not pick the strongest and best. There are numerous examples throughout the Bible indicating that, including Christ Jesus Himself.
I chalk this up to more cult of personality tripe that people on FR should know better.

It’s an old adage really, that tough times bring out strong people. In the Catholic Church we have a saying that when times are hard God gives us saints.
The phrase loosely means do not despair, God will provide.
I’m not saying Trump is a saint- but I do believe his time is now.
