What you see here is Ted Cruz taking the steps to cement a place on the ticket as President if he wins or as Trumps VP if Trump wins and then take that ticket and win in the general election

Cruz is very good tactician and strategist

Of course this isn’t my bailiwick, but I don’t see the upside for Cruz to be Trump’s VP. If Trump does make President and the presidency is as awful as the pundits say it’s going to be, does Cruz want to be tied to that? I can see Cruz hanging on to principle and running this all the way through...that would strengthen him for the future similar to Reagan was in ‘76. He can truly say he is the “principled conservative” then.
