Black vegans? That is a weird and uncommon type. I’ve spent my life in big cities, small cities, and have lived in almost all black neighborhoods. I can think of nothing more foreign to urban black culture than the save-the-planet eat-a-kale anorexic college chick attitude. I suspect the same applies to rural black culture.

Maybe he self-identfies as a save-the-world anorexic white college girl. Personally, I’d miss the really good BBQ if this catches on in the black community...

George Carlin put it in perspective over 40 yrs ago. The environmentalist, back-to-nature thing started with a bunch of well-to-do ("privileged") WHITE women who wanted to fix things. Occasionally an "organic" farmers market pops up in Harlem, the South Bronx, Newark, the Sulphur Springs section of Tampa and other such areas. Even then most of the customers are White yuppie types from surrounding gentrified 'hoods who wouldn't be caught dead there after dark. When it comes to environmentalism and all things organic, I've seen more diversity at a NASCAR race. In all fairness, James Golden, aka Rush's right hand man Bo Snerdly, is a vegetarian himself, but strictly for health reasons, NOT to make some idiotic social commentary.
