We the undersigned, members of the Republican national security community, represent a broad spectrum of opinion on Americas role in the world and what is necessary to keep us safe and prosperous. We have disagreed with one another on many issues, including the Iraq war and intervention in Syria. But we are united in our opposition to a Donald Trump presidency. Recognizing as we do, the conditions in American politics that have contributed to his popularity, we nonetheless are obligated to state our core objections clearly:
His vision of American influence and power in the world is wildly inconsistent and unmoored in principle. He swings from isolationism to military adventurism within the space of one sentence.
His advocacy for aggressively waging trade wars is a recipe for economic disaster in a globally connected world.
His embrace of the expansive use of torture is inexcusable.
His hateful, anti-Muslim rhetoric undercuts the seriousness of combatting Islamic radicalism by alienating partners in the Islamic world making significant contributions to the effort. Furthermore, it endangers the safety and Constitutionally guaranteed freedoms of American Muslims.
Controlling our border and preventing illegal immigration is a serious issue, but his insistence that Mexico will fund a wall on the southern border inflames unhelpful passions, and rests on an utter misreading of, and contempt for, our southern neighbor.
Similarly, his insistence that close allies such as Japan must pay vast sums for protection is the sentiment of a racketeer, not the leader of the alliances that have served us so well since World War II.
His admiration for foreign dictators such as Vladimir Putin is unacceptable for the leader of the worlds greatest democracy.
He is fundamentally dishonest. Evidence of this includes his attempts to deny positions he has unquestionably taken in the past, including on the 2003 Iraq war and the 2011 Libyan conflict. We accept that views evolve over time, but this is simply misrepresentation.
His equation of business acumen with foreign policy experience is false. Not all lethal conflicts can be resolved as a real estate deal might, and there is no recourse to bankruptcy court in international affairs.
Mr. Trumps own statements lead us to conclude that as president, he would use the authority of his office to act in ways that make America less safe, and which would diminish our standing in the world. Furthermore, his expansive view of how presidential power should be wielded against his detractors poses a distinct threat to civil liberty in the United States. Therefore, as committed and loyal Republicans, we are unable to support a Party ticket with Mr. Trump at its head. We commit ourselves to working energetically to prevent the election of someone so utterly unfitted to the office.
The gall of these people. First they screw up the country, if not the world. Then they protest like children when we try and do something about it.
The bitchy cucks are hysterical and desperate.
Trump says all the things I believe.
The so-called security experts never piped up when Obama systematically weakened our nation.
So they can shut the hell up now.
The “Republican national security community.”
Not sure I’m familiar with that organization.
These are some of the nation’s foremost traitors.
I must have missed the letter they wrote condemning the criminal hag for treason and breech of national security.
Opps my bad, these asshats appear to be traitors too.
Carry on......
There is no national security without border security.
Fraudulently documented foreigners come and go as they please.
Who is dem guys, eh?
My wife works for a D.C. outfit. The fear in Washington is palpable. Their careers and access to huge amounts of money is a risk!
Go Trump!
Really?
What would you call our current situation if not bankrupt?
We've ceded influence in the entire ME to Russia and Iran.
We've insulted our European allies on multiple occasions and even the Saudis don't trust us.
China is exerting influence in the east to the point where Japan is being forced to rearm for the first time since WWII and the Norks....they're out of their box and getting frisky.
Concerning the remainder of this useless diatribe it is just as clearly, what?
Bankrupt.
Thanks for the links/research/education/list. Learn something new every day BUMP! WOW. Naming names. The names of the enemy within.
Neo-cons and open border toadies.
Hmmmmm, I don’t remember the one they did for Obama?
Sure a Yuge segment of America loves it like the WWF or the UFC. Trump would start WW3.
That’s good he’s got their NAMES!!!!! He can have fun with them.
“We’ve seen it first hand in the debates. Trump is both exceedingly provokative and easily provoked. He can’t tollerate oposition. He has no self-control. He ignores the rules and contends with moderators and the audience.

He is provocative because he is showing the world that you do not need PAC, Union, or Lobbyists to win elections...he gets media exposure for free with his provocative statements which then when people think about pretty much agree with his basic point anyway. He defends himself and you find that appalling?? I think what is appalling is the lies and distortions and cheating by Cruz and Rubio, now that is truly disgusting. I cannot imagine the kind of mind that accepts either of those two as a reasonable choice.
Trumps angry tone is because he is speaking for those Americans who are angry, he has explained that many times.
Maybe it is time you consider that you are still being manipulated by those who have been manipulating most of us for quite some time...cause you are.
The fact that the elites in both political parties, the media, the PAC’s and Lobbyists are all against Trump should be your sign...
Mississippi 2014 redux, writ large.

Thanks, Maggie, for finding this!

Windflier,
List of names for the pinglist..
Eliot Cohen was a reserve Army MI officer. He is a College type professor who teaches the military along with being one of the 60 some odd so called Republicans who are complaining about Trump. This group is also made up of defense contractors who have commanded navy missile type ships during peacetime. I highly doubt a damn one has ever seen any combat. Cohen claims to be an expert on the air campaign during the Gulf War. These so called experts like Cohen are never the guys who actually go in and conduct BDA’s (Bomb Damage Assessments) and often end up landing in the middle of a hornets nest. Yes, it was clowns like Cohen who said no one could live through B52 ARCLIGHTS in COSVN HQ across from the fishhook border area in Cambodia. Well, we sent in a recon team in Feb/Mar 69 plus a platoon in late Apr 69 later and both were shot up to hell. The effect of the ARCLIGHTS was like poking a stick in a hornets nest. Experts get good men killed.
Yes, and; Hillary Clinton and the Clinton Foundation facilitated the sale of a US uranium mine in Wyoming to none other then Russia. She belongs in Leavenworth.
The man obviously loves America. Shut up!
