I don't know if you are old enough to remember that time, but it was very common for those with the resources to do so to do just this to avoid serving.
Regarding the David Duke endorsement, the problem isn't the endorsement, but with Trump's ambivalent response. And, Trump's claim that it was due to a bad earpiece is absurd, since he repeated both "David Duke" and "white supremacists".
Perhaps Trump is old and tired. Perhaps he's suffering from early-stage Alzheimer's. But it was an embarrassing performance, and the piranha like attacks of the cultists don't help your cause.
I am trying to figure out what is more pathetic, you pulling the age card on me, or you attacking Trump for doing what millions of other americans did during the Vietnam war...
Using a student deferment to avoid the draft was not a crime, if it was then the government would not have created a student deferment in the first place, nor was it a crime to be judged as 4F or unsuited for military service due to a medical condition and I don’t care if his doctor wrote a note or not, the ultimate arbitrator in the military would have been an Army doctor at the draft board who decided he was unable to serve or not.
Funny how that works isn’t it, you see I know this because I was once sent home as “4F” by an induction center in 1975 because of ant bites on my legs. I was declared fit for duty a few months later after those infections had cleared up.
And yes I remember how no one wanted to be drafted during the Vietnam war, I’m a lot older than you think.
