You are so right. Many of his advisers told him not to go to Texas or for that matter any other place in the South. I will paraphrase his response to them, “When I go there and they can see me and get to know me they will love me.”

Yep. JFK hit Houston, Ft. Worth and then Dallas. Many people in TX (mostly a blue state at the time) liked him. I think LBJ felt that JFK’s possible loss in the upcoming election would ruin his chance at POTUS. Therefore, I still feel LBJ had a big role in the assassination. Some of his actions before leaving Dallas are clues.
